7 Mistakes to Avoid at the Sunflower Sprouts Sale

By Mandie Cohen March 25, 2026

Shopping the Sunflower Sprouts Consignment Sale can seem like an overwhelming event but if you follow these simple hacks, you will come out feeling like a pro shopper without having spent a ton of money. Shopping this sale is one of the best ways local families save big on everything their kids need – from clothing, toys, baby gear and even maternity clothes! As an experienced shopper myself, here are a few mistakes you want to avoid while shopping at the Sunflower Sprouts Consignment Sale this Spring:

1. Don’t Be Late!

The old saying goes, “the early bird gets the worm.” Well, the same applies when shopping this consignment sale because the earlier you arrive, the higher the chances of scoring the highly desired items you have been eyeing up for a while. The sooner you begin shopping, the more likely you are to get exactly what you have been looking for for your kids this Spring. Consider shopping during one of the PreSale events!

2. Don’t Wing It!

Before you go, put together a game plan of exactly what your kids need for Spring and Summer. Make a list and check it twice! Write down your kids sizes in shirts, pants, jackets, shoes and swim/sports gear. This will help keep you focused and avoid any sizing guesses. Don’t forget swim suits and shoes! And make note if you need anything for grandma’s house or for camp!

3. Don’t weigh yourself down

This sale has THOUSANDS of items for you to shop through and you will not be leaving empty handed. Be sure to bring something to carry those items in. Whether that is a big bag, laundry basket, or my personal favorite, a wagon. Carrying a ton of items can become overwhelming very quickly so be sure to bring something to help ease that part of your shopping experience.

4. Don’t Just Grab And Go.

Inspect the items. While Sunflower Sprouts do an absolutely amazing job of checking the quality of items before putting out on the racks, some things can go unseen. Double check items for missing pieces, stains or holes. This helps ensure you are getting the best value for your money.

5. Don’t Just Shop For Now.

The idea of the consignment sale is to help plan ahead of the next season. Growth spurts happen and sometimes it’s worth buying a size (or two!) up which can save you a ton later. Think ahead on coats, holiday outfits, and special occasions.

6. Don’t Just Shop One Day.

This event goes on for a few days. Early shopping means you get the best selection but later shopping often means deeper discounts on remaining items. This is a great way to help stretch your budget even further and get more bang for your buck.

7. Don’t Just Buy - Consign Too.

Consider selling too! Turn your clutter into cash. Consigning your gently used kids’ items and maternity clothes is a great way to earn money while clearing space in your home. Not to mention, consignors get early shopping access. That’s a win-win!

Shopping the Sunflower Sprouts Consignment Sale is a strategic event but it helps save you money in the long run and you get everything you were looking for for the kids! Avoid these mistakes above and you will come out of the Spring sale feeling like a pro and still have a ton of money left over.

We hope to see you there at the Pittsburgh Indoor Sports Arena for the Spring sale from April 16-19, 2026!
