If you're looking for screen-free fun for your little ones, it's time to put on your outdoor shoes, grab a bag and head outside for a fun Nature Scavenger Hunt! You can go exploring at your local parks, hiking trails, neighborhood or even your own backyard! If you're not sure where to go, check out our parks guide here!
Why Do a Nature Scavenger Hunt?
Nature scavenger hunts are more than just fun, they also encourage:
✔️ Outdoor play
✔️ Spark curiosity
✔️ Enhance observation skills
✔️ Learn about local plants, animals, and seasons
Plus, nature scavenger hunts are completely FREE and require almost no prep!
How it Works:
Your little ones will search for natural items from our printable linked HERE. The items listed on this scavenger hunt range from easily found items, such as a leaf, and harder to find items like a specific animal.
Make it a game:
- You vs. Time: Set a timer and see how many items you can find in 30 minutes.
- Team Challenge: Split into teams and see who can find the most.
- Photo Hunt: Take pictures of your finds instead of picking them up, leaving nature just as you found it!
What to Bring:
- A bag or bucket (if you're collecting items)
- A phone/camera (for the photo version)
- Bug spray and sunscreen
- A water bottle (for hydration!!)
- Curiosity and imagination!
