This Spring, Sunflower Sprouts will be in Pittsburgh yet again at the Pittsburgh Indoor Sports Arena for the area's biggest consignment sale from April 3 - April 6, 2025. Shopping at a big event such as this one can feel like an over-whelming but also rewarding experience. After all, there are THOUSANDS of items for you to look through and you get so much bang for your buck when it comes to your little one's clothes and toys. As a mom of two rapidly growing boys, I know how frustrating it can be when they quickly grow out of their clothes and regular priced items can really burn a hole in your wallet. This is why I am so glad that Sunflower Sprouts hosts two events every year (Spring and Fall) in the Pittsburgh area to help local families like ours find good quality and cost efficient clothing and toys for our children.
We have put together our top 10 tips to navigating the Sunflower Sprouts Spring consignment sale to get the most out of your experience.
1. Do Your Research!
We recommend checking out the Sunflower Sprouts website and social media prior to the event. By doing some quick research about the event, you will find some sale details and even some special shopping times for earlier access. Some of these sales are specifically for New Moms, Grandparents, Sunflower Sprouts Consignors or Hometown Heroes. Advance tickets are also available for purchase for earlier shopping, see their website for details.
2. Make A List and Check It Twice!
It basically feels like Christmas when it comes to shopping and getting new items at this consignment sale and this is no different than a holiday shopping spree. Be sure to make a list of the items you absolutely NEED to get at this event. The excitement from the event can be a bit distracting so be sure to make note of what is a priority. Include sizes, colors, types of clothing (shorts, tanks, etc) in your list as well to help you determine exactly what you want to get for your kid's closet.
3. What to Bring with You!
This isn't a sprint. It's a marathon. You don't just need your wallet either. Sunflower Sprouts recommends you bring big bags/totes or a cart/wagon to help carry some of your items around. You do not want to be juggling a ton of items in such a large area. This will allow you to comfortably carry items while still giving you the ability to browser around. Don't forget to bring some water, maybe some snacks and wear comfy shoes. You will be there for a while.
4. Early Bird Gets The Worm
Be strategic when it comes to your experience. Arrive early because these types of events can get pretty busy and you want to have a chance to look around and snag the best deals before someone else.
5. Take a Good Look Around
Before you really get started, take a look around the event space to see where all the clothing is, toys and baby gear and where the large item holding area is placed so you can quickly navigate your experience without issue. The holding area is also a really good place for you to take a moment (you deserve the break from all that hard work!) and look at what you have gathered. This is a good opportunity to inspect your items and match up outfits.

6. Inspect the Items
As you are shopping around, once you find something you like, be sure to inspect it thoroughly for any stains, rips, missing buttons, etc. For baby gear and toys, it's important to be sure that all parts are including and nothing is missing or broken. Although the majority of items are hand inspected upon arrival, sometimes a stained clothing item or a toy missing a little piece makes it to the sale.

7. Think Ahead
Yes, you are shopping for a specific size right now but you know as well as any parent to a rapidly growing child, they will be in that outfit for a short period of time and then it's time to move on up to the next size. Consider looking at the size above where your child is currently and grab a few items so you are not left in a situation where your child(ren) do not have anything to wear.
8. SHOES!
We as parents often get fixated on the clothing aspect for our kids and forget about their little feet! Be sure to check out shoes for the outfits such as tennis shoes, sandals, rain boots or casual shoes! This is another time where it might be a great idea to think ahead and consider getting a pair or two in the next size up as well.
9. Payment Process and Return Policies
At Sunflower Sprouts, they accept both cash, credit/debit cards and even Apply Pay. Just like most consignment sales, there is a "no return" policy. If you get something and you find out that it doesn't fit, consider becoming a consignor the next season!
10. Can I Bring My Kids?
Absolutely! Sunflower Sprouts just considers keeping a close eye on your little ones so they do not open anything or try playing with any of the toys in the toy room. Strollers/Wagons are also welcome and they will put a special ribbon on it so that they know it is not one of the strollers being sold.
Now you have all the perfect tips to having a successful experience at your first ever Sunflower Sprouts consignment sale! We hope to see you there at the Pittsburgh Indoor Sports Arena for the Spring sale from April 3 - 6, 2025! 22 Rich Hill RoadCheswick, PA 15024
